Spring at Northern Hills Church
Our Next In-Person Worship Service is on May 30 at 10am
We are currently holding in-person worship services at Landmark Cinemas once every 4 weeks from now through August. Our plan is to go back to weekly in-person worship services in September. Every other Sunday morning our service will premiere online on our YouTube page. Anyone is welcome to join us for our in-person service, however we are currently requiring registration as we have a limit of 31 people to keep to Alberta Health's recommendation of 15% capacity. We are also asking everyone to wear a mask and we are ensuring that each household is seated a sufficient distance from one another. Despite these hurdles, it is a very encouraging time of worship together and we would love to have you join us! We also have a kids program during the sermon. For those who are unable to attend our in-person services we are live streaming them on our YouTube page for people to participate in their homes that morning. Registration for each in-person service will begin 2 weeks prior to that date. Our upcoming in-person services are scheduled for May 30, June 27, July 25 and August 22nd.
Pre-Register to for our In-Person Service on May 30th
For those who were unable to attend our previous service, we are providing a two week period to pre-register. This pre-registration period begins 4 weeks before our next service and will end when general registration begins two weeks prior to the service. For May 30th, our pre-registration will run from May 2nd through May 15th.
Weekly Online Worship Services on YouTube
We are currently premiering most of our services online on our YouTube channel Sundays at 10am. You can join us from wherever you are and unite with everyone else who is watching and worshipping at the same time. Be sure to check-in in the chat section to see who else is watching and say good morning to everyone.
Our next Church Picnic is May 16th
(On pause now until June 13th)
We are starting our outdoor picnics again to give us the opportunity to be together in-person more often. They will happen on Sundays at 11:45am following our online service and will be scheduled every 4 weeks (in between our in-person services). For the time being we will have everyone register to attend and will have multiple locations in order to keep each location to approximately 10 people. Everyone is welcome to join us. They will be "bring your own food" and we recommend bringing a blanket or chairs and your favorite outdoor game if you have one. The dates for our Church Picnics are May 16th, June 13th, July 11th and August 8th.
Online Small Group Opportunities
We currently have 3 small groups meeting virtually (through zoom). If you are in need of community, relationship and encouragement we would love to have you join in. We have a Men's Group meeting Sunday mornings at 8:30am, a Women's Group meeting Thursday nights at 7pm and a general group for anyone meeting Tuesday evenings at 7pm. Email our church office for more details and to join in.
Pine Lake Christian Camp Work Bees
Pine Lake Christian Camp has scheduled a couple work bees to get the camp ready for the summer. The dates are May 8th and 15th. If you would like a reason to get out of town for a day and help them fix up the camp you can register on their website. If you are hoping to have a familiar face there, we currently have members signed up to go on May 15th.
How we Got the New Testament Lecture by Dr. Helton
We want to invite you to attend an online lecture on May 30th at 1pm. Dr Stanley Helton will be sharing the journey of scripture from it's origin in the first century to today. Have you ever wondered how a letter like Romans came to be in our New Testament? This lecture follows one of Paul's letters from scribe, to the letter carrier who was the first interpreter, to recipients and believers, to scribes and monks... all the way to us! It costs $10 to join the lecture. Register online by clicking the button below. Then click on "Select a Date" , click on "May 30th", and then choose the proper lecture which is "Lecture 5: How We Got the New Testament".
Church Retreat this Summer
We are currently planning to have a Church Retreat this summer and are encouraging everyone to attend if possible in order to spend a weekend re-uniting ourselves as a church and being renewed in our mission together. We don't have a date or location confirmed yet but our tentative date right now is the weekend of August 6th-8th and our two options for location will be either Pine Lake Christian Camp or a local campground. Stay tuned for more details and registration info.
